The day consisted of two rugby matches, NSRFC against the The Rifles and NSRFC Colts against Newcastle Falcons Academy. There was plenty of other entertainment for the children including a bouncy castle and target paintballing.
Friends ,family and the general public attended the day in what was a testiment to the effort shown by Micky and his wife Gail in organising the event in such a short space of time.
The evening saw further entertainment with a live band and a charity auction where Chris "Topper" Newcombe found a new vocation in life as the auctioneer.
Twenty Lanterns were lit at the stroke of midnight on what would have been Jonnys 20th birthday.
The event is believed to have raised in excess of £15000 for the cause which is remarkable given the short period of time this was organised in.
NSRFC would like to thank Micky and Gail for allowing the club to be part of celebrating the life of Jonny. Micky and his family are a massive part of the club and the number of people who turned out in their hundreds is a mark of the respect and affection people feel for them at this difficult time. On behalf of Micky and Gail we would also thank all those who donated prizes and gave so generously throughout.
